Anne Hathaway: A Trailblazing Hollywood Icon

Hathaway began her acting career at age 16 when she appeared in the Disney movie “The Princess Diaries” (2001). She instantly captured the hearts of moviegoers around the world with her charming performance as Mia Thermopolis. Many of her other early roles were also focused on the romantic comedy genre, such as “Ella Enchanted” (2004) and “The Devil Wears Prada” (2006). In 2008, Hathaway made a bold transition into drama and action movies with her critically acclaimed performance in “Rachel Getting Married” which earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. Since then she has had multiple award-winning performances including “Les Misérables” (2012), for which she won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress; “Interstellar” (2014); and “The Intern” (2015). Hathaway is also no stranger to voicing animated characters. In 2016 she played White Queen/Mirana Marmoreal in Alice Through The Looking Glass, voiced Jewel in Rio 2 (2014), and Rita in Rio 3(2020). In addition to being an incredible actor, Anne Hathway is active philanthropically serving as United Nations Goodwill Ambassador since 2016 supporting causes such as gender equality, education access for women & girls globally & promoting awareness about HIV/AIDS prevention & treatment among others. She is also involved with charities that support children’s health issues such as Stand Up 2 Cancer Foundation, The American Cancer Society, Make-A-Wish Foundation, St Jude Children’s Research Hospital & UNICEF.
